With a couple of the usual suspects back from Madden 20 and a couple of new go-to options, money plays are abundant early in Madden 21.

So, here are the Madden 21 money plays to smuggle into your playbooks.
Madden 21 Offensive Money Plays
With options breaking free down the field and crevasses opening up at the line of scrimmage, these Madden 21 offensive money plays will help you to move the chains against the most stalwart defensive units.
PA Double Post – Gun Wing Slot Offset
Playbooks with this play: Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, Spread.
Slant and post routes out of the box are effective in their own right on Madden 21, especially against man coverage.
In this particular setup, though, audibles based on the coverage will set up big plays, even if the defense is playing cover two.
For attacking cover three or four, it may be worth looking for a shorter gain and yards after the catch, or giving your tight end the flexibility of an option route to find a gap.
Madden gamers love this overall formation as it spreads in some areas and bunches in others, creating headaches on the defensive side.
Ravens QB Power – Shotgun Wing
Playbooks with this play: Baltimore Ravens.
While being a rare commodity, having a quarterback who can run the ball as Lamar Jackson does gives you a free running back to provide another pair of hands in blocking assignments.
If you don’t like what you see, you can call an audible for an inside zone to give it to your running back – who will rush the opposite direction – among other potential plays to pivot to if needed.
This money play is only available in the Ravens’ playbook, so if you want it with a scheme from another team, you’ll have to create a custom book and slide it in.
Tip: If you don’t run with a mobile quarterback, another alternative to standard running back play and keeping the defense guessing is by running jet sweeps. Calling on your wide receiver to run to the outside, the speed of your man alone should be enough to beat at least one defender for a gain of five yards or more.
Mesh Spot – Gun Tight Slots HB Wk
Playbooks with this play: Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders.
While many teams will have variations of Mesh in their playbooks, the Mesh Spot narrows the field in terms of quarterback reads, but it moves the defense around enough to create at least one free man out of the five routes.
A halfback wheel route and a wide receiver post provide a deep threat. However, if you need a quick completion, there are receivers in every direction for the seven-to-ten yard gains that will keep the drive moving.
This is a go-to Madden 21 money play and is not dependent on an elite quarterback, given the short-throw options.
With a quick completion and yards after the catch, the short-throws are the safer options compared to deep bombs much of the time.
Madden 21 Defensive Money Plays
Offering a great deal of coverage at all levels and set-ups that will perplex even the most ingenious of offenses, these are the Madden 21 defensive money plays that you want at your disposal.
Cover 3 Buzz Match – Dime Rush
Playbooks with this play: Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, Las Vegas Raiders.
Defensively, things haven’t been plain sailing when it comes to stopping dominant offenses, with blitzing not quite as potent as in previous years.
Especially online, defenses with a handful of defensive backs have been most effective, curbing the pass rather than quashing it all together.
As the middle linebacker showing blitz drops back into zone coverage, the free safety patrols next to him, almost as a cover three disguised as a cover four.
Offenses wanting to make hay in the middle of the field may be caught out here, with solid coverage all over the field and a four-player rush to put pressure on the quarterback.
Overload 3 Sky Press – Nickel 3-3-5 Odd
Playbooks with this play: Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Giants.
It’s not a coincidence that three of the teams with the best defensive playbooks have this money play.
With one player blitzing from the edge and a linebacker blitzing through a gap at the line of scrimmage, this is almost a slightly more aggressive variation of the money play above, offering similar coverage in the backfield.
Having three players back prevents the deep bomb, with coverage in the middle of the field strong enough to prevent big gains through there.
If there is any downside to this particular money play call, it can be countered by teams looking to control the clock with catches near the sidelines.
This Madden 21 money play will work best with a versatile left end, able to drop into passing coverage, and is disguised well enough to trip-up human opponents.
Cover 1 Robber Press – Dollar 3-2-6
Playbooks with this play: Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Football Team, 46, Multiple D.
Dollar 3-2-6 seems mightily effective early on in Madden 21, with one holding linebacker, one pursuing linebacker, and six defensive backs – four of which are in man coverage.
Again, man coverage is your friend, at least early in Madden 21 updates, with players being more reliant on their pursuit than their change of direction attributes.
This defensive money play has flexibility for dealing with marauding quarterbacks and pocket passers alike, and runs either through the line or bounced to the outside.
On top of this, it’s a play call that’s safe for nearly any down and distance, even if it’s primary use is for passing situations on second and third down.
Tip: Many other teams have a similar Cover 1 Robber Press in a 4-3 Normal, with the difference being the Dollar 3-2-6 play has a linebacker rushing the quarterback as the fourth pursuer.
