Are Terraria Calamity and thorium compatible? ›

Are you a poor soul that insists on playing Thorium and Calamity at the same time? Then this mod should at least make the experience a bit more barable. Thorium + Calamity Convergence Mod converges the progression and reduces the redundancy that happens when both mods kinda do the exact same thing.

Thorium Ore is an ore which generates naturally upon world creation in the Cavern layer, becoming increasingly common further down in the world. It can also be found in Strange Crates and Scarlet Crates. Its associated bar can be made into a variety of useful early game tools and weapons.

Thorium is a much more relaxed content expansion that focuses less on overhauling the progression experience and more on adding to it. If you like the way the vanilla game plays, you'll probably prefer Thorium. You should probably play the vanilla game first, just to get a feel for it.

The mod has been discontinued, and is no longer able to load on Calamity Mod versions 1.4.

It is found in small amounts in most rocks and soils, where it is about three times more abundant than uranium. Soil contains an average of around 6 parts per million (ppm) of thorium. Thorium is very insoluble, which is why it is plentiful in sands but not in seawater, in contrast to uranium.

No matter how many altars are destroyed, ore rarity remains set with Cobalt/Palladium being the most common, followed by Mythril/Orichalcum, then Adamantite/Titanium as the rarest.

Although some wonder if thorium can be used in nuclear weapons and are concerned about the possibility of a thorium bomb, thorium actually can't be weaponized because it doesn't produce enough recoverable plutonium, which is required for building nuclear weapons.

Thorium boasts several advantages over the conventional nuclear fuel, uranium-235. Thorium can generate more fissile material (uranium-233) than it consumes while fuelling a water cooled or molten salt reactor, and it generates fewer long-lived minor actinides than plutonium fuels.
